Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina Jolie Voight (born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress, director, and producer best known for her sex appeal as also her humanitarian work. Her supporting role in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was one of the roles she received for the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her early life in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11 years old. After going to the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute two years, she then enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. New York University later taught her drama. She was also an actor in theatre productions. Later, she was a model and featured in music videos. Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller (1996 divorced, divorced 1999, divorced). The film was not well-loved, and neither were other films. In 1997, however, Jolie received a lot of attention for her role as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor the film George Wallace, and she later received a Golden Globe Award for her performance. Jolie played a supermodel who struggles with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia in 1999. The performance won her numerous awards including a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. She appeared alongside John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. In the following year, she married Thornton (divorced in 2003). In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)) she played Nicole Cage's girlfriend. Later, she took on an accent that resembled a British accent, and mastered kickboxing and street fighting to play the title roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). The actress played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and also was in the film with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York City). Both films were box-office disappointments however, Jolie scored a hit in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), where she played an assassin who was disguised as a normal housewife; while working on the film she became acquainted with Brad Pitt, who became her co-star.
